The Port Victoria Wind Power Project, Masdar’s 6MW wind farm in the Republic of Seychelles, is the country’s first large-scale renewable energy project. It accounts for more than 8 per cent of the grid capacity on the archipelago’s main island of Mahe, where 90 per cent of the country’s residents live.
Masdar’s 10 megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Siwa was the largest solar power installation in Egypt at the time of its completion in March 2015. The project is the first utility-scale solar power installation in the Arab Republic of Egypt and accounts for 30% of the grid capacity of Siwa City and its adjoining areas.
The Morocco Solar Home Systems (SHS) project is a Masdar-led initiative in partnership with Morocco’s Office National de l’Electricité et de l’Eau Potable (ONEE). It provides 19,437 solar home systems in over 1,000 rural villages in the Kingdom of Morocco.
