Masdar acquired John Laing Group plc’s interest in the wind farm in the United States in 2019, marking the first time the company has invested in renewable energy projects in North America.

The 149MW Rocksprings project was commissioned in 2017 and comprises 53 GE 2.3MW wind turbines and 16 GE 1.72MW turbines at a site in Val Verde County, taking advantage of the exceptional wind conditions characteristic of the Texas region.

The wind farm generates enough power for 69,750 homes per year, displacing 285,624 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
