The Sharjah Waste to Energy Project has won the Clean Energy Initiative of the Year Award 2019 at the Middle East Energy Awards.

Bee’ah Group CEO Khaled Al Huraimel accepted the award on behalf of Emirates Waste to Energy Company’s shareholders Masdar and Bee’ah at a ceremony held in Dubai yesterday.

The Sharjah Waste to Energy Project was awarded for its use of alternative energy sources to lower the UAE’s carbon footprint and sustainably manage municipal solid waste. The project is supporting the realisation of the UAE’s goal to divert 75 per cent of its solid waste away from landfills by 2021 and Sharjah’s target of zero waste-to-landfill.

Now in its 10th year, the Middle East Energy Awards celebrate energy projects, initiatives, individuals and companies that have transformed the energy landscape in the Middle East.
