Masdar City is a pedestrian-friendly community where academics and business professionals live, work, play and learn in an environment that pushes the boundaries of sustainable design, construction and operation.
Masdar City is home to both a major graduate research university – Masdar Institute of Science and Technology – and to the region’s only free zone industry cluster focused on sustainability, cleantech and renewable energy.
A visit in Masdar City takes approximately 60-90 minutes, including the driverless vehicle experience in our personal rapid transit system and a comfortable walk through the city.
The walk through the city is low-level difficulty, and special-needs access is available. To make your experience more enjoyable, remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and a hat – and of course bring your camera!
Remember to plan a refreshment break or lunch at one of the cafes and restaurants.
As you walk through Masdar City, you will notice its progressive urban planning and eye-catching architecture that combines traditional design principles with leading-edge technology. Our visitor map is designed to guide you around the city and help you identify some of the materials, systems and strategies that make Masdar City one of the world’s most sustainable urban developments.
Masdar City is open to the general public every day for those who wish to visit and explore at their own leisure.
Official delegations and groups who wish to visit should book in advance via a booking form
